Ronaldo going nowhere say United

July 5, 2008

Cristiano RonaldoMANCHESTER, England (AFP) - Manchester United said Friday the latest reports claiming star winger Cristiano Ronaldo was about to move to Spanish giants Real Madrid were "utter nonsense" and insisted the Portugal international was not for sale.

Ronaldo, a boyhood Real fan, has been linked with a move to the Spanish capital since the end of last season even though he scored a hugely impressive 42 goals in all competitions last term as United won both the Premier League and Champions League trophies.

The 23-year-old may miss the start of next season should he need surgery on an ankle injury.

In the meantime, United insisted their prize asset would not be joining Real within the next few days. "It is utter nonsense and totally laughable. Cristiano Ronaldo is not for sale," said a club spokesman.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has become increasingly frustrated by Real’s very public courting of Ronaldo, whose Old Trafford contract runs until 2012. And that led United to report the Bernabeu club to FIFA although the global governing body have taken no action against Real.

Were Ronaldo to leave Old Trafford, it is unlikely he would depart for a fee of much less than 70 million pounds.

United leave for their tour of South Africa on July 18 but Ronaldo was not scheduled to be a member of the squad for that pre-season trip.

Real Madrid will pay ‘whatever it takes’ to take Cristiano Ronaldo away from Man United

June 23, 2008

Real Madrid are prepared to smash the world transfer record with an £80 million bid for Cristiano Ronaldo after the Spanish club’s manager, Bernd Schuster, said they would “pay whatever it takes” to lure the Portuguese winger from Old Trafford.

With the Spanish champions also offering to pay Ronaldo £182,000-a-week after tax, the potential deal is nearly double what is currently the biggest transfer in football history which occured when Zinedine Zidane joined Madrid from Juventus for £46 million in 2001.

With Ronaldo having announced his “dream” of joining Madrid, the club expect the 23-year-old to force United’s hand over the sale, or put in a transfer request. Madrid may offer a cash-plus-player deal involving Wesley Sneijder or Robinho.

Ronaldo is expected in Manchester this week for assessment on a foot injury, though no meetings are scheduled with United’s hierarchy - both Sir Alex Ferguson and chief executive David Gill are on holiday and have no plans to rush back to make any fresh appeal to the club’s star player.

Ronaldo’s contract runs until 2012 and, after releasing a statement in which they said that the player was not for sale, United appear content to keep Madrid waiting.
When they do meet, Ferguson and Gill are expected to try and persuade Ronaldo to spend at least one more season at United.

Eric Cantona wants to be the next Manchester United manager

June 10, 2008

Eric Cantona 7

Eric CantonaInteresting news are coming out of the Premier League and it has been reported that Eric Cantona has revealed that he would love to be the next Manchester United manager.blank It has been reported that the Old Trafford legend wants to take over from current boss Alex Ferguson, who has revealed recently that he will retire in the next three years. It has been a well known fact that the Frenchman has no coaching experience and has taken up acting since retiring from football in 1997 but it has been reported that Cantona told the media that he would like to do exciting things and is proving many things. Cantona was one of the best foreigners to play in England but believes FIFA’s idea to limit the number of imports in the Premier League is a good idea. Cantona also added that he thinks that it is important to have a minimum of English or British players in the squad and to still work on the young players. He also added that this will benefit the national team and would help improve the overall quality. The United legend also added that to have the best chance to win things, you must have as much as possible with English players to have a big choice and work hard on young players.

Real Madrid wants Cristiano Ronaldo for the money

June 8, 2008

Cristiano Ronaldo Latest football news are out and it has been revealed that Real Madrid wants Cristiano Ronaldo to be their new David Beckham and Real Madrid is claiming that Ronaldo is worth as much as HALF A BILLION in spin-off cash.

It is strongly believed that this is the real reason the Spanish giants are ready to spend £75million on the Manchester United superstar and to recapture the ‘wow factor’ that left the club when Beckham went to the States.

It is said that Madrid are prepared to pay that world-record fee because Ronaldo’s arrival would have a huge impact on sponsorship, sales and TV deals.

It is believed that the Portugal winger who is 23 this year, is seen as the main man to bring Champions League glory and bolster the image of unpopular president Ramon Calderon.

Like Beckham before him, Ronaldo would keep 50 per cent of commercial deals struck in Spain but it is believed that Real would allow him to keep 100 per cent of any sponsorships from abroad.

It has been reported that the Spaniards are now planning to steal the jewel in United’s crown which is why boss Alex Ferguson may let Ronaldo rot in the stands.

Manchester United prepares to bid big for Karim Benzema

June 2, 2008

karim-benzema.jpg Earth shattering transfer news are coming out of Old Trafford and it has been reported that Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to launch record breaking offer for Olympique Lyon rising star Karim Benzema.

Local British newspapers have reported that Ferguson and United chief executive David Gill are working on a deal to snap up the 20 year old wonder kid who is tipped to star in Euro 2008 and insiders reveal they can get their man in a few days.

It has been reported that Benzema was top of Fergie’s wish list for a new striker a few months ago, but he was given no encouragement by Lyon, who are not willing to let go of their prized asset at any cost.

However it is believed that Ferguson and the United board has now decided to make an offer which could go as high as £30m, an offer they believe will be hard for Lyon to turn down.

It is believed that Ferguson knows Benzema is one of the few players in the world who could make a difference and help take his side to the next level.

It is revealed that United insiders say Ferguson and Gill are ‘working on something big’, but have also set a deadline to tie up the move. Ferguson hopes to move fast because he knows the price could rise if Benzema has a successful Euro 2008.

Benzema has so far appeared 76 times for Lyon and scored an impressive 26 goals along the way. Benzema also has 10 international caps for the French national team and has scored 3 times at international level.
