Can England Really Beat Germany?

November 19, 2008

There is a short answer to my question and that is yes but I am going to explain to you exactly why I think England can beat Germany.

England may be without seven or eight first team players for the match tonight but the confidence that Capello is installing into the team then I think that we can beat them.

The only problem that I think we have tonight is that we are without players such as Gerrard, Rooney, Lampard and Heskey.

The good news is that England have never lost in Berlin. England have played seven matches in Berlin in which they won three and drew four.

The other good news is that it isn’t just England who are missing some of their stars- Germany are also without seven first choice players.

I think that by the end of tonight the new stats will be that England have never lost in Berlin- played eight, won three and drew five.

Over the past few matches I have seen an improvement in England and hopefully the players can provide the fans with an entertaining match and a good result.

Last year Germany did beat England but last year was a bad year for England and now with a top-notch coach I cannot see any reason why we cannot beat our bitter rivals tonight.

With all of the injured players that we have I will be happy with a draw, we are less likely to get a win because no matter what you say, we are missing world class players, what result are you predicting tonight?

It’s good to talk, says Bent

November 18, 2008

Good to see Darren Bent revealing the magic ingredient of Harry Redknapp’s success at Spurs this week - talk to your players.

It might seem straight forward but according to Bent Juande Ramos spoke “about four words to me in two years” and I bet two of those were in Spanish.

However after a comforting word or two from Harry, against all the football odds Bent is banging the goals in - seven since Redknapp arrived in October including four in the Premier League to guide Spurs to 10 points from five games.

Bent said: “Harry has come in and installed belief into the players. A lot of good players were under-performing but he has told them they are fantastic players, put his arm around them and, as players, that is what you need. He has spoken to me more than Ramos did.

“It is simple management. I think sometimes we try to over-complicate it and look for too many answers as to why we were losing, whereas Harry just came in and said ‘This is how we are going to play, get used to it’.”

It’s certainly an approach that’s working for Redknapp, who cost Spurs a reported £5million in compensation. However surely they could have found someone cheaper to do a similar job - This Morning’s Agony Aunt Denise Robertson for example!

Watch Arsenal Vs Manchester United Online

November 7, 2008

On Saturday Manchester United travel to the Emirates stadium to face Arsenal with both sides not exactly flying, although its safe to say Man Utd are in a far more comfortable position then Arsene Wenger’s men.

Arsenal are in quite poor form and are without Robin Van Persie (suspended) and could also be without Gallas, Silvestre, Adebayor and Walcott. Manchester United will probably be without Darren Fletcher and Owen Hargreaves, who is actually on his way to America to visit the knee-specialist Doctor Steadman.

Ferguson will be looking for more protection this season after complaining of constant abuse from the Arsenal fans when they played each other last season at the Emirates. Sir Alex stated in a pre-match conference that he feels that the Arsenal stadium is very under-protected from the perspective of the coaching staff and substitutes, and that a modern stadium like the Emirates should be better equipped. Lets hope for no more pizza-related incidents this time around.
