Greece Euro 2008 Squad

Greece coach Otto Rehhagel kept faith with the players that took the reigning European champions to Euro 2008 when he named his 23-man squad on Wednesday.
The squad features seven of the team that started the final against Portugal four years ago, including midfielder Angelos Basinas who will captain the side in Austria and Switzerland.
Basinas hobbled off with an ankle injury in the 3-2 defeat by Hungary but will be fit enough to face Sweden in their opening game on June 10.
Veteran goalkeeper Antonis Nikopolidis was also a casualty in Budapest, coming off with a pulled thigh muscle, but he will also be fit to face the Swedes.

Germany coach Joachim Loew named his final 23-man squad for Euro 2008 on Wednesday and cut the inexperienced trio of Marko Marin, Jermaine Jones and Patrick Helmes from the squad.
Marin, the 19-year-old Borussia Moenchengladbach winger, had yet to win his first cap when he was named to Loew’s provisional squad earlier this month, while Schalke midfielder Jones and Cologne striker Helmes had played just five times between them.
Loew’s team are in Group B with co-hosts Austria, Poland and Croatia.

Turkey coach Fatih Terim has named his final squad for Euro 2008 and has withdrawn striker Halil Altintop, midfielder Yildiray Basturk and defender Ibrahim Kas.
Defender Gokhan Gonul had already been withdrawn from the provisional squad due to injury with Emre Gungor stepping up.
Turkey, who play their final warm-up match against Finland on Thursday, have been drawn in Group A alongside Portugal, the Czech Republic and Switzerland.

France Coach Raymond Domenech named his 23-man squad for Euro 2008 and Bafetimbi Gomis earned a place in France’s final 23-man squad for Euro 2008 on Wednesday, a day after celebrating his first cap with two goals in a 2-0 warm-up win over Ecuador.
Gomis had been expected to be dropped until he became the first player to score twice on his France debut since Zinedine Zidane in a 2-2 draw with the Czech Republic in 1994.
France are in Group C with world champions Italy, Netherlands and Romania at Euro 2008.

Chelsea targets Dutch midfielder Van Der Vaart

Interesting transfer news are coming out of the Premier League and it has been reported that Chelsea FC are making a move for Hamburg and Dutch International midfielder Rafael van der Vaart.
Local British newspapers have reported that sacked Chelsea boss Avram Grant is believed to have had Van der Vaart on his radar before being sacked at Stamford Bridge last weekend.
It is now believed that the Blues will press ahead with signing the players the Israeli had earmarked for this summer.
It is alos reported that the £15million-rated Hamburg captain has so far refused all offers to sign an extension to his current deal, which runs out in 2010.
