Euro 2008 - Players to watch

May 9, 2008

During an international tournament like the Euro 2008, some individual players are expected to shine and make an impact. The following are the players that i personally think that would make a difference during the tournament.

christiano-ronaldo.jpg

Ronaldo scored a total of 8 goals in Portugal’s UEFA Euro 2008 qualifying campaign. Expect him to continue his superb form during the European Championship.

David Villa was Spain’s top scorer in Euro 2008 qualifying with 7 goals. The Valencia striker has had a good season with his club and is expected to score loads of goal for Spain

6 ft 7 Koller announced that he will retire after EURO 2008. He currently has 164 goals in his professional carrer and 52 goals in his international career and if he stays fit i’m sure he will add to his goal telly at the European Championship.

The young Bayern Munich striker has produced one of his best performances for the German national team during the Qualifiers. The player is expected to continue his good form and help Germany win the tournament.

miroslav-klose.jpg

Klose is the first player representing unified Germany to finish as the World Cup’s top scorer, and the only player to have scored five or more goals in consecutive World Cups. Klose is expected to produce those goal scoring magic at this year’s European Championship.

mladen-petric.jpg

Because of his impressive qualifying campaign, he was unsurprisingly named in Croatia’s Euro 2008 squad. Petric has so far scored 9 goals in 23 matches for Croatia and is expected to score more goals during the tournament.

robin-van-persie.jpg

The free kick specialist of the Dutch team, Van Persie is expected to deliver the goals during the European Championship. Young, talented and has an eye for goal, this could be Van Persie’s year.

torres.jpg

Having a sensational debut season for Liverpool FC scoring more than 20 goals, Fernando Torres is expected to lead the line and bring Spain to glory.

Even though the Inter Milan striker had a disappointing qualifier’s campaign, Zlatan is expected to deliver for his country in the finals. These are only some of the players that i think will make an impact during the European Championship. What do you think?
