Werder Bremen goalkeeper Tim Wiese attracts Man Utd interest
April 28, 2008
Sensational transfer news are out and it is reported that Werder Bremen goalkeeper Tim Wiese has attracted the interest of English giants Manchester United.
Local media reported that Wiese, 26, is still rated in the £5million bracket by his club and it is believed that Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is looking for top-class goalkeeping cover.
It is believed that Edwin van der Sar has only one or two good seasons left in him and while Ben Foster seems to be the Dutch goalkeeper’s obvious replacement, Fergie wants another option with Wiese catching the eye of his European scouts.
It has been reported that Wiese has drawn comparisons with Oliver Kahn but is prone to the odd error. He made a shocking blunder against Rangers in this season’s UEFA Cup and was also blamed for Werder Bremen’s 2006 Champions League exit.

Sensational transfer news are out and it is reported that Middlesbrough are favourites to sign Chelsea midfielder Steve Sidwell in a deal that is worth around the region of £5 million.
Local newspapers reported that Sidwell, who has not played for Avram Grant since the FA Cup tie against Huddersfield in February, is a big admirer of Boro boss Gareth Southgate and believes there is huge potential for him at The Riverside alongside young English players such as Stewart Downing and David Wheater.
Many football fans are not aware of this but Sidwell was part of the Arsenal youth team that won the FA Youth Cup in 2000 and 2001. He had successful loan spells with Brentford and Brighton, but couldn’t break into the Arsenal first team.
Sidwell moved to Reading for an undisclosed fee on a four-and-a-half year deal in January 2003 and the following year, Four Four Two Magazine voted him the best player outside the Premier League.
Sidwell joined Chelsea on 1 July 2007 following the expiry of his contract with Reading, and was given squad number 9 for the 2007–08 season.
Sunderland manager Roy Keane has recently expressed interest in signing the 25-year old but the player rejected a loan move. Sidwell has also been linked with a move to Blackburn Rovers, as a replacement for outgoing Welshman Robbie Savage on loan possibly with a view to making the move permanent.
